Draw a circle of black shadow in the air and place your palm in its center. An orb of pure darkness flies out of your open palm and expands into a sphere of darkest night wherever it strikes.
Target a point in range. A sphere of darkness with a radius of up to 3 meters appears in the target location. The sphere is opaque and absorbs all light within. Any creature inside it is heavily obscured and blind unless it has truesight. Neither darkvision nor infra-red vision can see through this darkness.
Alternatively, you may target an object or a willing creature. The area of effect emanates from it and moves with it, but can be blocked by covering the object or creature.
You may also target an unwilling creature, in which case you make a ranged spell attack against it. On a hit, the creature becomes the source of the darkness for the duration.
The spell ends if you don’t have line of sight to the sphere of darkness at the end of your turn.
Upcast: Spend an additional 1 Vitality per turn to increase the maximum radius by 1 meter.
